Countdown to IBC 2008 showcase
NO APOLOGIES for kicking off this latest C2M newsletter with another look at the Mobile Zone at IBC2008. This time last year the IBC Mobile Zone reflected an industry that could more or less be defined by whether a solution supported broadcast or streaming mobile TV services. This year’s MobileZone at IBC2008 reflects a much more diverse and sophisticated marketplace that sees mobile video, not just TV, reach out to many more places. And as the industry has made its journey so have we, expanding out to address the mobile video markets in general which continuing our coverage of mobile TV. Even though the calibre of the companies attending has not diminished year on year especially with companies such as Qualcomm and MediaFLO, it is interesting to see the change in the different niches the leading exhibitors represent. The range encompasses products and service from companies who make content fit for purpose in a mobile form to be delivered to portable media devices, including the much heralded iPhone 3G; to manufacturers of essential mobile video chips in these devices; to the creators of the air interfaces and essentially chips upon which mobile video information is transmitted. And nowhere else other than the Mobile Zone at IBC would such an array be on offer. We certainly endorse you going there and hope this newsletter inspires you to travel to Amsterdam.
